Roman Costume Flashback

So today, I have sort of a funny/weird post; earlier I was going through pictures so that I could edit them for a guest post I am doing, and I came across some pictures from last year that I never posted. Emmie had a Social Studies class, that for their end of year project was having a Roman dinner/toga party, 50% of their grade was made up by bringing food and dressing up, and the rest of their grade was made up in a speech, their place mat, and a quiz. I had offered to come and be a class mom to help serve the food, and it was suggested by the teacher that I dress up too…..

So, I brushed of my history of costume books from university, went through my stash, and made Emmie and I Roman costumes to wear to the party.

They are actually fairly authentic, which is kind of silly since when we attended the party, there were hello kitty sheet togas 🙂 (AND I was the only helper mom dressed up!) The teacher did give Emmie 30 points of extra credit, so I guess that counts for something :/

I even did authentic Roman hair in Emmie’s hair!

She was so happy and pleased with her whole look, and wasn’t even embarrassed that we were the only one’s that put a lot of effort into it 🙂

So there you go, my crafty mom overkill showing again, BUT we had a lot of fun, and I should probably be Roman for Halloween one year just to take my toga out for a spin again!

Not only are the costumes, and hairstyle, great but I love the place mat. Good work! And you definitely should use the costume again.

You both look amazing! Those colours really suit you, and Emmie’s hair is a triumph! I say it’s always better to make more effort than everyone rather than less – be proud of trying 🙂 xxx
