Since my mom was visiting, I made her a Halloween costume too! Because she grew up in Africa, she has never had a real Halloween costume, so it was fun making her one! She wore the witches hat that went with Emmie’s costume last year, and was a medieval style witch.
I made the costume out of a stretch velvet, with draped sleeves, and a damask sash around the waist.
I added a black and purple under sleeve, out of a bat lace. I made the pattern after a medieval style dress, so it is all rectangles and triangles to minimize fabric waste.
Isaac wanted to be an 18th Century Plague doctor, I know a little off the wall right? He already had the tricorn hat, so I just made him the coat, and Paul and I made the mask.
The mask is made from leather than I painted white, and Paul stitched together for me (I hate sewing leather by hand) we used a mesh tea ball for the eyes, and I changed the colors of the tea ball with fire to make it look less new.
The coat was made out of wool, ultra suede, and pleather, and the hood was made from the same pleather as the sides and under sleeves of the coat.
I am pretty sure he was the only one of us not freezing in the rain!
His profile was pretty awesome, and he accidentally made a couple of kids cry he was so spooky.
So this should be the last of the Halloween pictures, but Nov. 1st Paul and I went to a Vampire Ball, so we have 2 more costume incarnations to go!
